To create, implement and monitor fair and supply-oriented, holistic social policies with a protective, preventive, developing, supportive, counseling and guidance-oriented approach in order to increase the welfare of the individual, family and society.

 

Vision

 

To provide holistic, social services that are in accordance with the ethics of social services and that are accessible for our disadvantaged citizens living within the borders of our district.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the  Directorate of Social Support Services:

 

• To provide holistic social services for children, youth, women, elderly and disabled people who live within the borders of Büyükçekmece Municipality and who are in social and economic deprivation and need support,
• To deliver social work practices to all segments of the society and creating a database related to them,
• To provide social examination and evaluation by using objective and scientific methods, in line with the Social Aid Principles Regulation, for those who have applied to our municipality and/or will be subject to social status and inspection to determine whether they are poor or in need of aid in various ways,
• To provide in-kind or cash aids to people in need and disabled people,
• To produce plans and projects to improve the living standards of citizens living within the boundaries of the adjacent area and to solve their problems, to implement and follow up projects,
• To provide educational support to students in need,
• To create social, cultural and sports centers / clubs for our children and young people in our district and to carry out activities that would keep them away from the dangers of the street and substance use,
• To provide services that facilitate the lives of elderly citizens and increase their social life level; to make home visits, to open and operate self-care and day care service units and/or nursing homes for the elderly in need of care, to increase the quality of life of the elderly and to organize social and cultural activities where they can spend their free time,
• To carry out works to develop the awareness of being a town-dweller, to strengthen the sense of belonging, to increase the sense of social help and solidarity on a voluntary basis by organizing social activities for our citizens living in our district,
• To organize educational seminars for our citizens who come to our district with internal migration to adapt to the city and to develop social awareness, to work on the acquisition of urban values so that they can live in harmony with the town and families of the town,
• To provide social assistance, social service, education, health, law and psycho-social counseling and guidance services, in cooperation with relevant institutions/organizations, to groups and/or individuals (refugees/asylum seekers/those who are under temporary protection) who had to leave their country and came to our district,
• To work to ensure equality of opportunity in all areas of life by combating social injustices and inequalities, to carry out social service activities in order to ensure that women and disadvantaged groups benefit equally from rights, opportunities and opportunities in all areas of social life, 
• To create projects aimed at preventing violence and to support studies in this regard, to be a stakeholder,
• To carry out activities to increase the living standards of the disabled individuals and their families and to strengthen the disabled individual,
• To develop cooperation between institutions, organizations and directorates in the municipality in solving the accessibility problems of our disabled citizens and disadvantaged groups,
• To open and operate Community Center/Neighborhood House/Family Counseling Centers etc. to solve the problems of families and individuals and to provide them counseling and guidance services,
• To open and operate nursery and day care centers, children's clubs, children's playgrounds and gardens, libraries, toy libraries, guidance-development units for children who primary and secondary school students in order to care for the children of working mothers and fathers, to meet the education needs of preschool children and to prepare them for school,
• To open and operate children and youth houses for children and young people who attend primary, secondary and higher education and have housing problems,
• To open and run soup kitchens for citizens who are in need to eat healthily and regularly,
• To organize vocational training programs for unemployed citizens to gain qualified workforce and to participate in employment, to help unemployed citizens who are registered in the database through İŞKUR within the protocol signed,
• To open and operate social aid centers to meet the basic needs of citizens in need,
• To process the information about social service activities and their beneficiaries into the database to be created in the municipality's information system,
• To assist the development of services and the creation of new service models by evaluating the information obtained during the field survey and transferring it to relevant implementing institutions and organizations,
• To provide services for the needs of people who have been exposed to natural disasters and are determined to need in-kind and cash assistance,
• To carry out the services in cooperation and coordination with Non-Governmental Organizations, public institutions and organizations, universities, volunteer individuals and organizations,
• To organize activities, meetings, seminars to increase the level of information, consultation, dialogue and cooperation in order to have healthier and more sustainable relations between our municipality and NGOs.
