Director of Media Affairs

BACKGROUND OF DIRECTOR:

He was born in 1964 in Istanbul. He graduated from Istanbul Büyükçekmece High School Literature Department in 1981. In 1987, he started to work in Büyükçekmece Municipality under the Directorate of Editoring as an enforcement officer. In 1992 he was tasked as a Personnel Chief with the establishment of Directorate of Personnel. Later, in 1994 he took office as the Deputy Editor in Chief. Between 1999-2004, he worked as a founding officer to carry out the establishment and organization works of Bahçeşehir Municipality, which gained a legal identity as a result of the General Elections of Parliament and Local Administrations. He was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief and still holds this position.

To be an innovative and reliable communication center that leads in informing and engaging the community by transparently, accurately, and effectively sharing the development and achievements of Büyükçekmece.

 

 

  • Monitoring and archiving news articles and reports appearing in radio, television, newspapers, and internet websites regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the district and first-level municipalities within its borders; compiling and summarizing them, and delivering them to the Mayor, Council Members, Vice Mayors, and department heads, while also maintaining a record and archive of clippings and records,
  • Organizing press conferences for the Mayor, facilitating communication between the Mayor and press organizations as well as journalists,
  • Documenting all events related to the municipality through photography and videography, and archiving them for future reference,
  • Inviting press members for the promotion of municipal activities and preparing press releases to inform the public; sending faxes and emails to press organizations, and creating promotional posters and brochures to introduce municipal services,
  • To obtain accurate information from the relevant departments regarding the identification of incorrect, erroneous, and incomplete news in the media and to send a correction text to the press organizations,
  • To organize the preparation of tools and materials such as sound systems, announcements, posters, banners, and newspaper advertisements used to inform the district's public about municipal services and activities, to ensure the printing and publication of books, magazines, tapes, and CDs related to the municipality, and to distribute them to relevant places when necessary,
  • To ensure the necessary coordination processes are carried out and concluded in the communication between the press organizations and the municipality,
  • To ensure that the mayor's daily schedules are notified to the local and national press when necessary, and to ensure that statements, announcements, and corrections deemed necessary by the mayor and the mayor's office are communicated to the media,
  • To carry out promotional activities related to municipal services,
  • To prepare press releases, send press statements about municipal activities to media organizations (newspapers, radio, television, magazines, etc.), ensure that news is delivered to relevant parties via email and text message, and to ensure digital and opaque photographs are take and archived on various occasions (activities, openings, visits, etc.),
  • To ensure the continuity of information flow with members of the press,
  • Taking into account the public’s right to information from the administration, to create an environment for informing the public about the activities and affairs being conducted, and to organize meetings by the mayor at a level that informs the public,
  • To ensure the design and printing of all types of printed materials used in promotional activities in accordance with corporate culture, to control and coordinate related activities, and to organize meetings periodically with the participation of various civil society organizations, neighborhood heads, etc., in coordination with municipal administration,
  • To establish and develop archives on topics such as film, video, etc., and ensure the utilization of these archives by the relevant units,
  • Organizing necessary activities related to various festivals held within the municipal boundaries to ensure the efficient outcome of the events,
  • To invest in necessary promotional activities for places constructed by the municipality and awaiting official inauguration, and to ensure coordination with relevant departments,
  • To perform other duties assigned by the mayor,
  • The distribution of duties among subunits is determined by the Mayor upon the recommendation of the Director.
