To provide effective and efficient parks and gardens service with a management approach that is genial, participatory, respectful to people, nature and all living things, to transform Büyükçekmece into a lush world city. 

 

Vision

 

To contribute to the creation of a modern city structure by following technological developments in the light of scientific data in order to create a sustainable and healthy environment for a more beautiful, green and livable Büyükçekmece.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Directorate of Parks and Gardens:

 

• To carry out activities to increase the amount of green space per person within the boundaries of the district to the standard level,
• To establish new parks by shaping green areas suitable for zoning and ownership in line with the needs of the people of the district and to name new parks,
• To work on afforestation and greening in avenues, streets, squares and medians,
• To carry out maintenance, repair and improvement works of parks, playgrounds, children’s playgroups , sports equipment, walking paths, sports fields and green areas,
• To clean the parks,
• To prune all the trees in the region so that they can grow healthier and that they will not disturb the citizens in areas such as pedestrian roads and apartment fronts,
• To irrigate, fertilize, spray and hoe the green areas, trees and ornamental plants at periodically determined times,
• To prepare work programs on a daily, weekly, monthly and 5-year basis and to implement the prepared programs,
• To initiate legal follow-up by making necessary examinations and determinations and to impose the necessary penal sanctions in case of damages such as any unauthorized cutting, transportation etc. of the trees in public areas within the boundaries of the district by both citizens and other institutions and organizations,  
• In case of damage to all the structural landscape equipment in the parks (lighting elements, children's playground elements, pergola, bench, garbage can, information board, etc.), to initiate legal follow-up by making the necessary examinations and determinations, to impose the necessary penal sanctions,
• To take measures to ensure occupational safety and health at workplaces, or to ensure that such measures are taken,
• To do flowering work in the areas such as parks, gardens, medians etc.,
• To carry out maintenance, pruning, cutting, etc. in line with the demands of citizens,
• To identify trees that are required to be registered as monumental trees or trees to be protected by the Board of Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets,
• To fulfill all kinds of duties to be given in accordance with laws, statutes, regulations, general orders and other legislations in a timely and complete manner,
• To work in coordination with relevant public institutions and organizations,
• In addition to the maintenance of the existing parks and green areas and the repair of the pool and irrigation systems throughout the year; to assist schools, mosques and other public institutions in landscaping.
