WORKING SYSTEM OF OUR CENTER

Our Marriage Office is in charge of accepting the marriage applications of our citizens who are taking the first step into the future to establish a happy home in our modern and constantly developing city of Büyükçekmece, making the procedures, setting a wedding date, executing the marriage contracts, reporting the marriage contracts to the District Directorate of Population and Citizenship and applying the relevant articles of the Marriage Regulation. While conducting the marriage contracts of the couples who apply to our Marriage Office and request marriage, it provides a pleasant service with the wish of a lifetime of happiness.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR MARRIAGE APPLICATION (FOR TURKISH CITIZENS)

1) Every person is obliged to show his/her identity card with a photo and bring a photocopy of his/her identity card, which must not be more than 10 years old. Driver's license, passport, SSK card etc. are not valid.

2) The person living outside the district must bring a certificate of residence (domicile).

3) 5 passport size photographs taken within the last six months are required. Biometric, photocopy and copy photographs are not valid.

4) The health report for marriage must include the family physician's approval, signature and stamp on the picture stating “Hemoglobinopathy screening has been done and information has been given”.

For blood tests, you can go to the health centers between 08:00-09:30 in the morning and get information from your family doctor.

5) Men and women aged 65 and over must bring a medical report from the Psychiatry Department of the State Hospital stating whether they are mentally healthy or not, the duration of the report must be at least one month, not one day.

MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED

*Couples must come together for the application.

*The validity period of the documents is 6 months.

*Men and women over 18 years of age can marry of their own free will.

*Men and women who have completed 17 years of age can marry with the permission of their parents, or if they do not have parents, with the permission of the guardian or guardianship authority.

*A man and woman over 16 years of age can marry with a court decision.

* The person to be married can also carry out the application process through the person he/she appoints as a representative. For this purpose, a special letter of attorney must be issued and the letter of attorney must clearly state the full identity of the person giving the power of attorney, his/her attorney and the person to be married and that it has been granted for the execution of the procedures.

* A divorced woman or a woman whose husband has died cannot marry or apply for marriage until 300 days have passed. Those who want this period to be shortened must have the court's decision to abolish the “DURATION of the divorce” and the “CERTIFICATE OF CERTAINIZATION” attached to the decision.

* Those who wish to use their surname before marriage must sign the petition to use the surname extracted from the system in front of the marriage officer.

* According to the law, a marriage contract cannot be concluded on the application day.

* If the documents are complete, a date is given at the time of application, no prior appointment organization is made.

* The marriage witnesses must be present half an hour before the wedding.

* Postponement/cancellation can be made with the petition of one of the couple; the original identity card must be present for this procedure. No postponement/cancellation can be made via telephone.

* In order to be a witness, you must be over 18 years of age, and you must have an identity document with you.

* Payments for marriage are received in cash and in advance.

* Applications are between 10:00-12:00 in the morning and 13:00-15:30 in the afternoon.

* We do not accept marriage applications on Fridays as preparations are made for our weekend weddings.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR MARRIAGE APPLICATION (FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS)

1) 5 passport size photographs taken within the last six months are required. Biometric, photocopy and copy photographs are not valid.

2) The health report for marriage must include the family doctor's approval, signature and stamp on the picture stating “Hemoglobinopathy screening has been done and information has been given”. For blood tests, you can go to the health centers between 08:00-09:30 in the morning and get information from your family doctor.

3) The passport must be translated into Turkish and notarized.

4) Single status certificate (Marriage License Certificate) from the country of origin must be Apostilled or Multilingual.

5) If the single status certificate (Marriage License Certificate) does not have the names of the parents, the Birth Certificate will be taken.

6) If the single status certificate is obtained from the Consulate of the country in Turkey, the documents must be approved by the Istanbul District Governorate, the Directorate of Registrar's Office, and those whose consulate is in Ankara must have their documents approved by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

7) Foreign nationals who do not have a visa and residence permit will definitely not be married.

MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED

* The name-surname-place of birth-date of birth-father's name-mother's name-marital status information written in the single status certificate (Marriage License Certificate) and birth certificate prepared in accordance with the above requirements must be exactly the same as the passport, identity card, residence document.

* If the foreign national is divorced or a widow, the marriage license document to be submitted must also contain the phrase “there is no restriction on marriage”.

* According to the domestic laws of our foreign citizens, marriage can be organized by evaluating the waiting period (to remarry after divorce).

* Documents of our foreign citizens whose visa has expired and who have applied 2-3 days before the visa expires are not accepted.

* According to the law, a marriage contract cannot be concluded on the application day.
